Active Partnerships – Showcasing and Sharing Event
Hosted by the Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership
Venue: University of Hertfordshire, de Havilland Campus, Hatfield, AL10 9EU
Dates: Thursday 20th June, 10am-5pm and Friday 21st June, 9.30am-12.30pm
The idea is to bring together teams from a select number of Active Partnerships, to showcase some of the excellent work they are undertaking around the following key areas:
- Sport for Social Change
- Physical Activity for Wellbeing (Health)
- Core Market – Clubs, Coaches, Volunteers and support of NGBs
All participating Active Partnerships will need to be prepared to present on at least one area of work and it is intended that the sessions will be fully interactive, with attendees given the chance to probe and better understand the challenges and success of the various initiatives.
Moreover, those presenting will be expected to illustrate how the featured programmes/projects have a clear sightline to Sport England’s overarching outcomes; how the projects address inactivity, inequality and disadvantage; and to highlight any good practice around collaborative leadership, associated with those projects/programmes.
Please note that there will be no ‘inspirational’ speakers; no involvement by national agencies; nor consultants. This will just be Active Partnerships showcasing and sharing information on their projects. We anticipate a charge of £20pp to cover teas, coffees, lunch etc. and there is no restriction on the number of team members that Active Partnerships can bring with them.
Day 2 will be about meeting with those presenters etc. from Day 1 to drill down and better understand in greater detail some of the projects that were showcased. There is no obligation to attend Day 2 but for those wishing to do so, accommodation in local hotels etc. can be arranged/signposted.
It will be our intention to include a sporting session (probably a mixed wheelchair basketball/rugby game) and to arrange dinner/drinks for anyone interested at the conclusion of Day 1.
The rationale for this event is that too often, we end up going to events and waiting for the expert on the various subjects that are of interest, to enter the room. Only to find that WE are already in the room!!
