This event, that re-imagines the creation of the public commons, will be at PLACE and the intersection of 64th and Marshall Streets to San Pablo Avenue, the confluence of Northwest Oakland, Berkeley, and Emeryville.

Additionally, we are collaborating for a third year with the Community Resilience Challenge occurring for the month of May. CRC encourages local communities to activate projects showcasing solutions through permaculture, transition town, homesteading, and resiliency.

• COMMUNITY CIRCLE •
SHARE YOUR “PIECE ON PEACE”
NOON - 1:00PM

This is the HEART of this community gathering — voices heard on a subject that speaks to our neighbors and many others.

Inspired by our neighborhood street mural derived theme: "Declaring Peace Through All Our Relations", this ceremony takes place in the intersection of 64th and Marshall Street.

We ask faith holders, neighbors, poets, & others: “What’s Your Piece on Peace” – They will share inspiring poetry, songs, writings, prayers, and dances that speak to this theme. If you wish to share, please let us know on the PARTICIPATE FORM: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18EHysbGYykiWm1y3YekVFWXAzoxpyU6sQWJIqoPj5SU/edit#.

• ABOUT THE INTERSECTION STREET MURAL •

The mural at 64th & Marshall Streets, is the result of community input solicited throughout 2012. Our theme, Declaring Peace Through All Our Relations, was rendered by mural artist, SUARO LUIS CERVANTES (Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center, SF) and painted by him and the community last year when we got permission from the city of Oakland.

Come view our beautiful mural. And if you are interested in placemaking projects for your neighborhood, we are working with our councilman, Dan Kalb on a pilot program to come to other Oakland neighborhoods. Email us: info@aplaceforsustainableliving.org
