Celebrate the social impact of sharing
The world is being transformed by sharing. And there's no better time to
discover just how much of impact it has than Global Sharing Week. Add
your sharing event to the GSW map and help us shift the focus away from
what’s wrong with the world, to what’s right with it. No event is too small,
no act of sharing too insignificant. From individuals to corporations, our
annual mass engagement campaign is the largest because it celebrates all
the wonders of the sharing economy.
This year's theme? Social impact.
The sharing economy is the Future of Life. As it transforms the very fabric of
society, this year we're highlighting all the good in the world brought about by
sharing. Taking place between June 3rd to 10th Global Sharing Week events
happen all over the world. You can find and register events on our global map.
Where You Come In
Did you know there are over £3.5 trillion worth of idle human and physical
resources in the world – and that unlocking access to these could solve major
global challenges? So get your Global Sharing Week event on the map to give the
sharing economy movement that extra bit of momentum.
Examples of events can include: clothes swaps, food shares, disco soups, picnics,
skills swaps, grub clubs, give and get markets, potluck dinners, bake shares, co-
working hackathons, maker fairs, reuse / recycling events – you name it. Check
our 7 awesome ways to get involved.
Who can join?
Anyone can register an event. As long as it unlocks access to skills, knowledge,
time, goods, food etc, it’s definitely Global Sharing Week material. So register
your event, and join the ranks of sharers putting the Sharing Economy on the
Last year, Global Sharing Week 2017 saw over 354 events take place in 113

This will be our 5th year participating in Oak Park’s annual outdoor fair, featuring various community organizations, food, music and more. This is a meetup group to have another social outlet and meet fun and interesting people! A variety of activities can and will be organized and if you have anything to suggest please be our guest. The more proactive our members the more fun and experiences we get to have! So what might our activities be?? Well, do you like coffee and chats, live music, walks, outdoors, weekends away, culture, cinema, cooking, supper clubs, table quiz's, books, camping, restaurants, theater, learning new skills, meeting new people etc etc!! The list is endless. It may not be for you but you won't know until you try it! This is a new group for a New Year and here's to a very happy one with great experiences and new friends.
Note: Please be aware that this is not an official group or organization, it is a free-to-join group of like-minded people. The organizers are in no case guides or professionals of any activity or events undertaken. It is responsibility of every member to evaluate if they are fit enough and are capable to join an event. Meet West Social is not liable for any injuries or accidents. It is up to all members to take out adequate insurance for any sort of meetups. We are all only a group of like minded people and are not qualified to look after your safety. Thank you.
New to town? Friends moving away? Looking for new, fun friends that you'll see more than once at meet-up events? Then The Girls (Madison) is for you! This group is run slightly differently than most meet-up groups. Membership is limited to encourage people to participate in events with some frequency.
New members are required to attend an event in the first 6 weeks, and then once every 1-2 months after that (understandably people get busy so there is definitely some leniency in the attendance guidelines once you establish yourself as an active member). In some cases, an RSVP deadline will be noted in the event description; you can change your mind as often as you'd like up until that point. Everyone gets 2 no-questions-asked late cancellations/no-shows after the deadline per 6 events they attend, but please do update your RSVP and/or send a note to the event organizer so she knows not to wait for you!

Any idea to spark up the atmosphere is welcome, such as conversation topics, Spanish books, recipes, support Spanish tradition here in the North Shore...
