Our Councils will convene on the 4th June, ahead of the ULI UK Annual Conference.
Details of their programmes are as follows:

ULI UK Residential Council

09:30-12:30       Construction Modernisation: Myth or Reality?
Plexal, HereEast, 14 E15 2GW, E Bay Lane, London E15 2GW

A recent report by the National Audit Office entitled ‘Using modern methods of construction to build homes more quickly and efficiently’, stated that new alternative methods of residential construction could reduce build time by more than a half.  This could enable up to four times as many homes to be built with the same on-site labour and, according to the report, with similar levels of building performance to those constructed by traditional methods.

At present approximately 15,000 homes in Britain are built using modular construction. A drop in the ocean against the government’s target of 300,000 new homes a year.  So why aren’t these new methods being adopted, what are the advantages and risks and what is the true potential to help solve our housing crisis?  A panel of industry experts will debate the realities of construction modernisation at this morning event organised by the ULI UK Residential Council.

  • Rosie Toogood, CEO, Legal & General Modular Homes
  • Alastair Parvin, Co-founder, WikiHouse Foundation
  • Alan Grant, Digital Reality Consultant, Sublime Shared Immersion
  • Mark Farmer, CEO, Cast
